Kennedy, Nebraska facts for kids
Kennedy is a small, unincorporated community located in Cherry County, Nebraska, in the United States. An unincorporated community means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's governed by the county.
Kennedy's History
The community of Kennedy has a simple history. It got its start when a post office was opened there in 1886. This post office helped people send and receive letters and packages for many years. It stayed open for a long time, until 1969, when it was finally closed.
The name "Kennedy" was given to the community in honor of a person named B. E. B. Kennedy. He was from Omaha, which is a much larger city in Nebraska.
