Kerbal Space Program, often called KSP, is an exciting 3D video game. It lets you build and fly your own rockets and spacecraft! Imagine being a space engineer and astronaut all at once.
This game is like a super fun science lesson. It uses real-life physics to make sure your rockets fly (or crash!) just like they would in space. The game was created by a company from Mexico called Squad. You can play KSP on PlayStation, Xbox, and Microsoft Windows computers.

What is Kerbal Space Program?
Kerbal Space Program is a space flight simulator video game. This means you get to design, build, and launch rockets. Your goal is to send your little green characters, called "Kerbals," into space. You can explore different planets and moons in the game's solar system.
The game challenges you to learn about things like gravity, thrust, and aerodynamics. These are all real science concepts! If you build your rocket well, it will fly. If not, it might explode in a spectacular way, which can also be fun.
Building Your Spacecraft
Before you can explore space, you need to build a rocket or a spaceplane. The game has two main buildings for this:
- The Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) is where you build tall rockets. These rockets are designed to launch straight up into space.
- The Spaceplane Hangar (SPH) is for building aircraft and spaceplanes. These vehicles take off from a runway, just like real airplanes.
You get to choose from many different parts. There are engines, fuel tanks, command modules, wings, and more. You connect them together to create your unique spacecraft. Each part has a purpose and affects how your vehicle flies.
Launching and Exploring
Once your spacecraft is built, it's time for launch! You take your creation to the launchpad or runway. Then, you control the engines and try to get your Kerbals into orbit. Getting into orbit means your spacecraft is moving fast enough to stay in space without falling back to the planet.
After reaching orbit, the universe is your playground! You can:
- Travel to the game's moon, called Mun.
- Visit other planets like Duna (like Mars) or Jool (like Jupiter).
- Perform daring rescues of stranded Kerbals.
- Build space stations or bases on other worlds.
The game also has a "Science" mode. In this mode, you complete missions and collect scientific data. This data helps you unlock new and better parts for your spacecraft.
The Kerbals
The main characters in Kerbal Space Program are the Kerbals. They are small, green, and very brave (or sometimes very scared!) astronauts. They are the ones who fly your rockets and explore space.
Some famous Kerbals you'll meet include:
- Jebediah Kerman: He is known for being fearless and always ready for an adventure.
- Valentina Kerman: She is a skilled pilot and one of the first female Kerbal astronauts.
These Kerbals are always eager to go on new missions, no matter how dangerous they might seem!
