Keri Craig-Lee (born on March 4, 1958) is a famous Australian fashion designer and business owner. She has won many awards for her work. Keri was the very first person to be added to the National Retail Association's Hall of Fame in 1987. She was only 28 years old at the time.
Early Life and Education
Keri Craig-Lee grew up in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Her parents, Peter and Dianne Craig, were also involved in fashion. They started a business called House of Craig. Today, Keri and her brother Jason still help run the Keri Craig Emporium. This shop is located in the historic Brisbane Arcade.
Keri went to St Margaret's Anglican Girls' School and finished in 1975. After that, she studied fashion design and marketing. She earned a diploma from Waukesha County Technical College in the United States in 1976.
Family Life
In 1986, Keri Craig-Lee married Trevor Lee. Trevor is a successful businessman. Together, they have two children, Cartier and Harrisson. Keri also has two stepsons, Anthony and Michael.
Keri Craig-Lee's Career
Keri Craig-Lee started her own fashion brand, Keri Craig, in 1977. She opened her first shops in Brisbane and Sydney. Soon, her clothing designs were sold all over Australia and even in other countries.
In 1984, Keri had a very special job. She designed the wedding outfit for the famous singer Sir Elton John. He was getting married in Sydney.
Keri also helped start other businesses with her husband. In 1995, they created Australian Country Choice. This company is one of Australia's biggest meat suppliers. They also own Keri Lee Charters and Sutherland Aviation, which are related to air travel.
Awards and Recognition
Keri Craig-Lee has received more than 50 awards during her career. She was honored with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2017. This award was given for her great contributions to the clothing industry, business, and the community.
She was also named a Queensland Great in 2024. This award celebrates people who have made a big difference to the state of Queensland.
