Kerobokan Prison, sometimes called Hotel K, is a building in Bali, Indonesia. It is a place where people who have broken the law are kept. The prison is located in Kerobokan, which is part of Badung Regency.
It is about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) from Canggu village. The prison first opened in 1979. It was built to hold about 300 people. By 2017, the Kerobokan Prison held over 1,400 people. These included both men and women from many different countries. Most of the people staying there were from Indonesia. About 15,000 Indonesian rupiah (which is around $1 US dollar) is spent each day for every person in the prison.

Challenges at the Prison
Kerobokan Prison has faced some challenges over the years. These include incidents involving people inside the prison.
Past Incidents
In December 2015, there was a serious incident involving different groups of people. Because of this, police moved more than one hundred people to other prisons nearby.
Some people have also said that there are problems with fairness and rules inside the prison.
Escapes from the Prison
Sometimes, people have tried to escape from Kerobokan Prison.
Notable Escapes
- On June 19, 2017, four people managed to escape. They dug a tunnel under a wall. This tunnel was about 50 centimeters (20 inches) wide, 75 centimeters (30 inches) high, and 15 meters (49 feet) long.
- On December 10, 2017, two more people escaped. It is believed they used a ladder to climb over the prison wall.
