Early Life and Schooling

Kevin Brooks was born in Pinhoe, a town near Exeter, England. He is the middle of three brothers.

When he was 11, he earned a scholarship to attend Exeter School. At school, he sometimes felt different from the other students, who came from wealthier families. His 2009 novel, Dawn (which was called Killing God in the UK), is one of his most popular books found in libraries around the world. The story is about a girl named Dawn who is dealing with difficult feelings after her father disappears.
