Kevin Longbottom (born December 23, 1940 – died January 13, 1986) was an Aboriginal Australian professional rugby league player. He played during the 1960s. Kevin was known by his nickname "Lummy." He was famous for his incredibly long kicks in games, sometimes even from beyond the halfway line! Kevin was a strong, well-built man. He helped his team, the South Sydney Rabbitohs, win a championship in 1967. He also played in the team that finished second in 1965. Kevin played as a Fullback for most of his career.

Kevin Longbottom's Rugby Career

Kevin Longbottom first joined the top-level team when the regular fullback, Darrel Chapman, was injured. In the New South Wales Rugby League season 1967#Grand Final1967 Grand Final, Kevin kicked a conversion goal. This helped South Sydney win against Canterbury with a score of 14–10.

Amazing Kicks

Kevin's three long-range penalty goals in the 1965 Grand Final are still remembered today. Many people believe these were some of the longest kicks ever made at the Sydney Cricket Ground. His powerful kicking was a special skill that made him stand out.

Life After Rugby

Besides rugby, Kevin Longbottom was also a very good golfer. He is especially remembered for being a famous caddie. A caddie carries golf clubs and helps golfers during their games. Kevin caddied for many professional golfers. These included famous players like Bruce Devlin, Bob Shearer, and American golfer Tommy Bolt.

Kevin Longbottom passed away in 1986 at the age of 45.
