Kevin Thomas Moore (born April 29, 1958 – died April 29, 2013) was a talented English professional footballer. He was a strong defender who played for several well-known clubs. What's really cool is that Kevin wasn't the only footballer in his family! His brothers, father, and uncle also played for Grimsby Town, making football a big family tradition for the Moores.
Kevin's Football Journey
Kevin Moore started his football career at Grimsby Town, the club where many of his family members also played. He spent a long time there, from 1976 to 1987, playing over 400 games! He was a key player for them.
After Grimsby, Kevin moved to Oldham Athletic for a short time. Then, he joined Southampton, a bigger club, where he played for many years, from 1987 to 1994. While at Southampton, he also had a couple of loan spells at Bristol Rovers. A loan spell means he temporarily played for another team.
His last club was Fulham, where he played until 1996. Throughout his career, Kevin was known as a reliable defender, helping his teams keep the ball out of their net. He played a total of 623 games and scored 43 goals, which is impressive for a defender!
Illness and Support
Sadly, in 2010, it was shared that Kevin Moore was suffering from a serious brain condition called Pick's disease. This is a rare type of dementia, which affects memory and thinking.
To help with his care, his former clubs showed amazing support. Southampton organized a charity golf day, and Grimsby Town played a special benefit match. These events helped raise money to support Kevin and his family. Kevin passed away on his 55th birthday, April 29, 2013.
