Playing Rugby League
Kevin Moore played as a halfback, which is a key position in rugby league. He started his career playing for the Halifax team in England. He played for them from 1984 to 1986.
After playing in England, Kevin joined the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs team in Australia. He played for the Bulldogs from 1989 until 1994.
Coaching Rugby League Teams
After his playing days, Kevin Moore became a coach. He took on the role of head coach for the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the NRL. He started coaching the team in the 2009 season. He took over from his brother-in-law, Steve Folkes, who retired.
Highlights of His Coaching Career
In his first year as coach in 2009, Kevin led the Bulldogs to a great season. The team finished second in the league. They made it all the way to the preliminary final. This is just one step before the Grand Final, which is the biggest game of the year.
In that preliminary final, the Bulldogs played against their big rivals, the Parramatta Eels. A huge crowd of 74,549 people came to watch the game. Even though the Bulldogs were expected to win, the Parramatta Eels played very well and won the match.
End of Coaching at Bulldogs
After the successful 2009 season, the Bulldogs did not perform as well in the next two years. They did not make it to the finals in either 2010 or 2011. Because of this, Kevin Moore left his coaching role with the team in the middle of the 2011 season.
Kevin Moore's Family
Kevin Moore comes from a family well-known in rugby league. His father was Peter "Bullfrog" Moore, who was a very important person in the sport. Kevin is also related to other famous rugby league figures. For example, Steve Folkes, who he replaced as coach, is his brother-in-law.
