Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College (KBOCC) is a special kind of school called a tribal community college. It is located in Baraga, Michigan. This college helps students get a good education close to home.

History of KBOCC
KBOCC was officially started by the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community on July 12, 1975. The community wanted to create a school that understood the needs of American Indian students. They believed that students from sovereign nations deserved an education that respected their heritage.
In 2017, KBOCC bought the old Pelkie Elementary School for just $1. This building is now used as an education center for the community. In 2018, Debra Parrish retired after being the college president for almost 30 years. Lori Ann Sherman became the new president.

KBOCC makes sure that the Ojibwa language and culture are a big part of its programs. Traditional leaders help teachers and staff include these important parts of the Ojibwa way of life in classes.
