Khirlepposi or Khirleppos' Melesh is a small village in the Chuvash Republic, Russia. It is located about 6 kilometers (4 miles) west of Alikovo, which is the main town of the area. In 2006, about 245 people lived there.

What's in a Name?
The name of the village, Khirlepposi, comes from two Chuvash words. "Хирлеп" is the name of the river that flows through the village. "пусь" means "beginning." So, it means "the beginning of the Khirlep River."
The second part of the name, "Мĕлĕш", was the name of the very first person who settled and built a home there.
Where is Khirlepposi?
The Khirlep River is an important part of the village, flowing right through it.
A main road, the Cheboksary–Alikovo–Krasnye Chetai auto route, also passes close by. This road connects Khirlepposi to bigger towns and cities.
A Look at History
Khirlepposi was first mentioned a long time ago, in July 1774. This was when a famous historical figure, Yemelyan Pugachev, traveled near the village.
The first school in Khirlepposi opened its doors in 1895. This was a big step for the village, helping children get an education.
As the village grew bigger, some families moved to start new villages nearby. These new places included Small Melesh, Toropkasy, New Selo (now called Azamat), Khitekooshkan', and Khoravary. Some also moved to a village called Melesh in a different district.
Over the years, Khirlepposi's administrative area changed a few times. It was part of different districts before finally becoming part of Alikovsky District again in 1965.
