How Kiddle Started
Kiddle first appeared online in 2014. The people who created Kiddle chose the ".co" part of its web address to show that it's "children only."
Kiddle became very popular in 2016. Since then, many teachers and parents around the world have used and suggested Kiddle. It's a trusted tool for learning!
Since July 2023, Kiddle is also available in Spanish. You can find it at es.kiddle.co.
Exploring Kiddle's Look and Feel
Kiddle's website has a fun outer space theme. When you type something into the search bar, Kiddle shows you results in a special way.
The first three results are always super safe and written just for kids. Kiddle's editors have checked these very carefully. The next four results are also safe websites, but they might not be written specifically for kids. Still, Kiddle makes sure they are easy for children to understand. Any results after that are safe sites for adults, but they might be a bit harder for kids to read.
If you accidentally type words that are not suitable for children, Kiddle will show you a picture of a friendly robot. This robot will tell you to try searching again with different words.
Kpedia: Your Online Encyclopedia
Kpedia is Kiddle's own online encyclopedia. You can find it right from their search engine. Kpedia is built using MediaWiki, which is the same software that powers Wikipedia.
Kpedia has more than 700,000 articles! These articles are based on information from Wikipedia, but they are rewritten to be simple and clear for children. Kiddle created Kpedia to help you with your school homework and for general learning. Kpedia articles also show up in your Kiddle search results.
