A Look Back in Time
Kidds Store got its name from a special person. His name was Elias Kidd. He was the very first postmaster for the community. A postmaster is the person in charge of a post office. They help send and receive mail for everyone.
Elias Kidd did more than just handle mail. He also owned a store in the area. Imagine a general store where people could buy many things they needed! He also ran a gristmill. A gristmill is a place where grain, like corn or wheat, is ground into flour. This was very important for people to make bread and other foods.
The post office in Kidds Store was open for many years. It started in 1887 and closed in 1954.
