Paola Andreína Ramírez Gómez (born 26 July 1993 – died 19 April 2017) was a student from Venezuela. She was studying at the Catholic University of Tachira. Paola sadly died during a time of big public demonstrations in Venezuela in 2017.

What Happened to Paola

On 19 April 2017, Paola was near Las Palomas Square in San Cristóbal, Táchira state. There were many protests happening in the area. Paola was approached by some armed groups on motorcycles. They tried to take her belongings. When she tried to run away, she was shot. The shot hit her lungs, and she died.

Different Accounts of Her Death

After Paola's death, there were different ideas about what happened. Her parents said that Paola had called them just minutes before she died. She told them that armed groups were chasing her. However, a government minister said that someone from an opposition political group was responsible for her death.

Investigation and Report

Paola's death was looked into by a group of experts. These experts were from the Organization of American States (OAS). The OAS is a group of countries in North and South America that work together. Their report suggested that Paola's death, along with others during the protests, might be a very serious act against people. This is sometimes called a "crime against humanity."
