Kimberly "Kim" Hawthorne is an American actress known for her roles on television. She started her career in theater and on daytime TV shows, often called soap operas. She later became famous for her roles in popular drama series.
From 2000 to 2005, Hawthorne was a main cast member on the Canadian police show Da Vinci's Inquest. She is also well-known for playing Kerissa Greenleaf in the drama series Greenleaf from 2016 to 2020.

Early Life and Education
Kim Hawthorne was born in Jersey City, New Jersey. She attended a special high school for the arts in Newark, New Jersey. After high school, she went to Birmingham–Southern College in Alabama, where she earned a degree in musical theatre.
After college, she began acting on stage. Her first professional role was at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. In the mid-1990s, she moved to New York City to continue her acting career.
Acting Career
Getting Started on TV
Hawthorne's first role on screen was in an episode of the TV series I'll Fly Away. She also appeared in a few episodes of In the Heat of the Night.
From 1995 to 1996, she played Belinda Keefer on the popular ABC soap opera All My Children. Later, she joined another soap opera, Another World, as the character Dana Kramer. During this time, she also performed on Broadway in the musical The Life.
Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, she made guest appearances on many well-known shows, including Stargate SG-1, The Twilight Zone, and The L Word.
Major Television Roles
From 2000 to 2005, Hawthorne played Detective Rose Williams in the Canadian police drama Da Vinci's Inquest. This was one of her first major, long-term roles. At the same time, she had recurring parts in the science-fiction shows Dark Angel and Jeremiah.
In 2006, she was part of the main cast for the comedy series Lucky Louie. She has also appeared in single episodes of many popular crime shows like CSI: Miami, Castle, Criminal Minds, and NCIS: Los Angeles.
Success with 'Greenleaf' and Beyond
In 2015, Hawthorne landed a leading role in the drama series Greenleaf, which was shown on the Oprah Winfrey Network. She played Kerissa Greenleaf, the wife of one of the main characters. The show was very successful and ran for five seasons, ending in 2020.
After Greenleaf, Hawthorne continued to act in popular shows. She appeared in How to Get Away with Murder and The Good Doctor. In 2022, she had recurring roles in the Netflix series The Lincoln Lawyer and the military drama SEAL Team.
