The Kimberley rocket frog (scientific name: Litoria axillaris) is a small frog. It lives only in Western Australia. This means it is endemic to that area. The name axillaris comes from the stripes on its sides.
What it Looks Like
This frog is quite small. It grows up to about 2.5 centimeters (1 inch) long. It has a head shaped like a triangle, with a pointy nose. Its legs are long, and its toes are half-webbed. The frog's skin is a light grayish-brown color. It has dark stripes that run from its nose, through its eyes, and along its body.
Where it Lives
The Kimberley rocket frog has only been found in one place. This is the Prince Regent National Park. This park is in the north-west Kimberley region of Australia. Researchers have seen these frogs on flat sandstone rocks.
Male frogs have been heard calling out. They call in pairs or by themselves. This is different from many other frogs, which often call in large groups.
