Kimberly Ilana Thompson is an American drummer and music educator. She is known for her amazing drumming skills and for teaching music to others.

Early Life and Education

Kimberly Ilana Thompson was born in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in St. Louis, MO. Kimberly started playing the drums when she was ten years old.

She went to Pattonville High School. There, she was the drummer in the school band. After high school, she studied at the Manhattan School of Music. She earned a bachelor's degree in jazz composition in 2003.

Music Career and Projects

Kimberly Thompson is the President of KTMUSICPRODUCTIONS. This is a record label started by women, located in Harlem, New York. She has released all her music albums through this label. Her first album, Like Clockwork, came out in 2010.

Her most recent album is Treasures Abound (A Tribute to the Jazz Greats). It was released in April 2016. This album shows off her powerful drumming. It includes modern classical music and original jazz songs. She wrote and performed these songs with her jazz quartet.

Kimberly has also worked as a session or touring drummer for many artists. These include famous singer Beyoncé and fusion guitarist Mike Stern. She has played with The 8G Band on the NBC talk show Late Night with Seth Meyers. She also performed with the Kimberly Thompson Quartet at New York's Jazz and Colors festival.

Kimberly Thompson worked on a musical for Broadway. This musical was produced by The Dodgers and Tommy Mottola. It was called "The Donna Summers Project". She also appeared in Romy & Michelle. This was a stage play based on the 1997 movie Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. She performed in Seattle in June 2017.
