Kimitoön (Finnish: Kemiönsaari) is a special place in Finland. It is both a municipality (like a local government area) and a large island. This area was created on January 1, 2009. It was formed when three smaller municipalities, Dragsfjärd, Kimito, and Västanfjärd, joined together.

Kimitoön is located in the beautiful Archipelago Sea, which is part of the Southwest Finland region. It's known for its many islands and coastal areas. The municipality has about 6,462 people living there as of 31 December 2023. It covers a total area of about 2,800.99 square kilometres (1,081.47 sq mi). A big part of this area is water, with land making up about 686.91 square kilometres (265.22 sq mi).

The main island itself is the largest coastal island in Finland. It covers an area of about 524 square kilometers. About 7,500 people live on this island. These people are part of two different municipalities: Kimitoön and Salo. Most of Salo municipality is actually on the mainland.
