Kimpton was officially planned and marked out, a process called "platting," in 1891. It was given its name in honor of a local business owner.
When Did Kimpton Have a Post Office?
A post office was opened in Kimpton in 1889. This allowed residents to send and receive mail. The post office served the community for several years. It eventually closed down in 1902. After the post office closed, the town slowly faded away.
