The Kincaid Towers is a very tall building in Lexington, Kentucky. It has 22 floors! You can find it on Vine Street, between Broadway and Mill Street.

The outside of the building looks cool with shiny concrete and blue windows. It even has outdoor areas, called terraces, on some floors. Inside, there's a big open space called an atrium. A special walkway connects it to the Hyatt Regency Hotel and the Central Bank Center. The building is named after Garvice Delmar Kincaid.

Building History

Work on the Kincaid Towers started in 1973. It was finished in 1979. The building cost about $20 million to build. That's a lot of money!

Parts of the movie Steel were filmed here in 1978. A stuntman named A.J. Bakunas was hurt during filming. He was doing a record-breaking free fall from the top of the building.

The Kincaid Towers was built by Huber, Hunt, and Nichols Inc. This company is from Indianapolis, Indiana. They also built other famous buildings in Lexington. These include the Hyatt Regency Hotel and the Central Bank Center. They also built Rupp Arena and Commonwealth Stadium.

For eight years, Kincaid Towers was the tallest building in central Kentucky. It stood 333 feet (101.49 meters) tall. Then, new buildings were constructed that were even taller. When it was finished, the building was home to Kentucky Central Insurance Companies.

The building also has a special energy system. It takes up the whole 9th floor. This system was very advanced for its time. It was inspired by space technology!
