What is the Kind Movement?

How it Started

The Kind Movement began in 2008. Kind LLC wanted to make the world a friendlier place. Their goal was to encourage people to do unexpected acts of kindness. This idea has inspired many nice actions all over the world.

Kinded Cards

One early part of the movement was called Kinded. People created and shared special cards with unique codes. These cards were like "licenses" to do kind acts. The idea was that each card would start a chain of good deeds. People could track these acts online using the card's special code.

Do the KIND Thing

In March 2010, Kind LLC launched "Do the KIND Thing." This program helped people turn their kind actions into support for different causes. For three months, this program inspired over 40,000 acts of kindness. These acts supported almost 150 different causes.

At the end, Kind LLC gave money to the top three causes. These were Operation Gratitude, Good Girls Give, and Suffolk County JCC. In March 2011, they updated "Do the KIND Thing." It allowed small acts of kindness to lead to bigger good deeds for the world.

Each month, on the first Tuesday, Kind challenges its community. They ask people to complete a special "KINDING Mission." If enough people join in, Kind LLC performs a "BIG KIND Act." This big act helps a group of people who really need it.

#Kindawesome Card

The #kindawesome card is a fun way to spread kindness. When someone does something nice, you can give them a #kindawesome card. They can use this card to get a free Kind snack bar. The person who gets the card also receives another card. This lets them pass on the kind gesture to someone else. It helps keep the chain of kindness going.

Kind Food Truck

In April 2011, Kind LLC started the Kind Food Truck. This truck travels around to meet people. It helps recruit new people to join the Kind Movement. The truck also gives out free samples of Kind products.

Kind Charitable Support

In 2010, Kind LLC gave over $100,000 in products and money. They supported many causes that inspire kindness. Some of these groups include the Surfrider Foundation, Common Threads, Autism Speaks, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, and the Great Kindness Challenges.
