Kinwood is a small community in Harris County, Texas, United States. It is not an official city, but an unincorporated community. Kinwood is located near U.S. Route 59 and the Southern Pacific Railroad. It is about four miles south of the city of Humble.

Kinwood's History

Kinwood was first known as Kenwood. The name changed because the postmaster found another community already called Kenwood. In 1936, state maps showed Kinwood had a church, a sawmill, and homes. A post office opened in 1945.

By 1948, about 156 people lived in Kinwood. In 1952, the community had one business. By 1958, there were two businesses. The post office closed that same year. After that, mail for Kinwood came from Houston. In the 1980s, Kinwood had three churches and several homes.
