Kiril "Kire" Lazarov, born on May 10, 1980, is a famous former handball player from North Macedonia. Many people think he is one of the best handball players ever! He is now a coach for the North Macedonia national handball team and for RK Alkaloid.
Lazarov holds amazing records in handball. He scored the most goals ever in a single World Men's Handball Championship, with 92 goals. He is also the top scorer of all time in the EHF Champions League, scoring over 1,300 goals. He is one of the top international goal scorers in handball history.

Kiril Lazarov's Amazing Career
Kiril Lazarov was a top scorer in the EHF Champions League two times. He achieved this while playing for MKB Veszprém and RK Zagreb. In the 2011–12 season, he was also the top scorer for BM Atlético Madrid, which was a runner-up in the Velux EHF Final 4.
Setting New Records
On January 29, 2009, Lazarov set a world record! He scored 92 goals in just nine games for the Macedonia national team. This happened at the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship in Croatia. Because of his amazing sports achievements, the president of North Macedonia gave him the Medal for Service to the Country. This award recognized his efforts in making handball popular and promoting his country.
Lazarov continued to break records. On January 27, 2012, he became the European and World record-holder for goals scored in a single championship. He scored 61 goals in 7 games at the 2012 European Men's Handball Championship.
Milestones and Awards
On October 4, 2015, Kiril Lazarov made history in the EHF Champions League. He scored his 1000th goal in a match against PICK Szeged. This made him the first player ever to reach this incredible milestone in the Champions League. His team, FC Barcelona, won that game 30:28.
In May 2016, Lazarov was voted as "The Best Right Back" in the Champions League All-star team. This means experts and fans thought he was the best player in his position. In late 2020, he was also voted the best right back of the entire decade by fans and a jury of handball legends.

Kiril Lazarov had a very successful club career. He won many national championships and cup tournaments with different clubs. He won 15 national championships and 15 national cup tournaments in total!
His best results in international club tournaments include being a runner-up twice in the EHF Champions League. He also won the EHF Champions League with FC Barcelona Handbol in the 2014–15 season, which is one of the biggest club titles in handball. He also won the IHF Super Globe multiple times with different clubs, which is a world club championship.

Personal Life
Kiril Lazarov is married to his wife, Ljubica. They got married in June 2006. They have two children, a boy named Blagojče and a girl named Lana. Kiril's brother, Filip Lazarov, is also a handball player.
