Klondike Kat facts for kids
Klondike Kat is a fun cartoon series created by Total Television. It first appeared in 1966 as part of The Beagles show on CBS-TV. Later, you could also catch these short cartoons during episodes of Underdog and Tennessee Tuxedo. Each episode is a short, animated story.
Meet the Characters
The main character is Klondike Kat, a wildcat who acts like a human. He is a Mountie, which is a police officer in Canada. Klondike Kat's voice was done by Mort Marshall.
Klondike Kat's main job is to chase a tricky mouse named Savoir-Faire. Savoir-Faire is a French-Canadian mouse who loves to steal food. His famous saying is, "Savoir-Faire eez everywhere!" Sandy Becker was the voice of Savoir-Faire.
Savoir-Faire's Sidekick
Savoir-Faire has a loyal sled dog named Malamutt. Malamutt is very strong and can even bend metal bars. He can also play musical instruments like the violin and piano. Malamutt has super hearing, which helps him warn Savoir-Faire if Klondike Kat is nearby. Malamutt only makes sounds like a whimper or a growl.
Klondike Kat's Boss
Klondike Kat lives and works at a place called Fort Frazzle. His boss is a British-Canadian officer named Major Minor. Major Minor's voice was provided by Kenny Delmar. The character was inspired by the actor Terry-Thomas.
Klondike Kat's Adventures
Klondike Kat always tries his best to catch Savoir-Faire. However, he is often a bit clumsy and causes more trouble than the mouse he is chasing. Even with his funny mistakes, Klondike usually manages to catch Savoir-Faire by the end of each episode. His famous line is, "Klondike Kat always gets his mouse."
The humor in the show comes from Klondike Kat's silly attempts to catch the mouse. Sometimes, he succeeds by accident, or thanks to something unexpected happening. This is similar to other cartoons where the main hero is a bit clumsy but still wins in the end.
