It was one of several such divisions in Pakistan. These divisions were created to make it easier to govern different areas and provide services to the people.

History of Kohat Division

When Pakistan became an independent country in 1947, the area that would later become Kohat Division was just a district within a larger region called Peshawar Division.

Later, in 1976, Kohat was made into its own separate division because the area had grown and needed its own administrative center. This new Kohat Division included three important districts:

Kohat Division continued to serve as an administrative region until the year 2000. At that time, the government made some big changes to how the country was organized, and the system of divisions was ended. After 2000, the districts that were part of Kohat Division began to report directly to the provincial government.
