Kohei Kawata (河田 晃兵, Kawata Kōhei, born October 13, 1987) is a Japanese football player. He is a skilled goalkeeper who plays for the team Ventforet Kofu. Born in Ōita, Japan, Kohei has played for several clubs throughout his career.
Kohei's Football Journey
Kohei Kawata started his football journey in high school. He played for Nirasaki High School from 2003 to 2005. After that, he went to Fukuoka University, where he continued to play football from 2006 to 2009.
Playing for Professional Clubs
In 2010, Kohei joined his first professional club, Gamba Osaka. He was part of their team for several years. During this time, he also spent some time playing for other clubs on loan.
- In 2012, he played for Avispa Fukuoka on a loan. This means he temporarily moved to that team to gain more playing experience.
- In 2013, he went on loan to Ventforet Kofu. He played 17 games for them that season.
After his loan periods, Kohei returned to Gamba Osaka. In 2015, he officially joined Ventforet Kofu. He has been a key player for them ever since, playing many games as their goalkeeper.
Winning Trophies
Kohei Kawata has helped his teams win some important football competitions.
- With Gamba Osaka, he won the J1 League and the J.League Cup in 2014. He also won the Emperor's Cup in the same year. These are big achievements in Japanese football.
- More recently, with Ventforet Kofu, he won the Emperor's Cup again in 2022. This shows his continued success as a goalkeeper.
