Kohei Morita's Football Journey
Kohei Morita was born in Nagoya, Japan, on July 13, 1976. After finishing his studies at Komazawa University, he joined the J1 League club Urawa Reds in 1999.
Early Career and Club Changes
At first, Kohei played many games as a forward. However, he found it hard to score goals. Because of this, he didn't get to play as much. In 2000, his club, Urawa Reds, moved down to the J2 League.
In 2001, Kohei played for two different clubs: Cerezo Osaka and Kawasaki Frontale. He didn't get much playing time at either club during this period.
Moving to Omiya Ardija
In 2002, Kohei joined Omiya Ardija, a club in the J2 League. Here, he played many matches as a forward until 2003. However, in 2004, he didn't play much.
Time at Sanfrecce Hiroshima
In August 2004, Kohei moved to Sanfrecce Hiroshima. He played regularly in 2004. But in 2005, he again didn't play many games.
A big change happened in 2006. Kohei was asked to play as a defender instead of a forward. He played many matches as a left-back in a defense system with three players. His team, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, reached the final of the 2007 Emperor's Cup, finishing second.
In 2010, Kohei was injured and couldn't play at all. But he came back strong for the 2011 season.
Ventforet Kofu and Retirement
In 2012, Kohei joined Ventforet Kofu, another J2 League club. He became a regular player as a center-back. His team won the J2 League championship in 2012 and was promoted to the J1 League in 2013.
From 2014, Kohei changed positions again. He played as a forward because his team needed more players in that role. However, he played less often from 2015 onwards.
In 2017, Kohei moved to Thespakusatsu Gunma, a J2 League club. He continued to play as a forward. Kohei Morita retired from professional football at the end of the 2017 season, when he was 41 years old.
