Koji Fujikawa (藤川 康司, Fujikawa Koji, born October 7, 1978) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a goalkeeper for several teams in Japan.
Koji Fujikawa's Football Journey
Koji Fujikawa was born in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan, on October 7, 1978. After finishing high school, he joined a top-tier Japanese football club, J1 League team Kyoto Purple Sanga, in 1997. However, he did not get to play in any matches for them.
He left the club at the end of 1997. In 1998, he decided to go to Nippon Bunri University. While still at university, in October 2000, he joined J2 League club Oita Trinita. Again, he did not play in any official games for this team.
Playing for Sagan Tosu
In 2001, Koji Fujikawa moved to Sagan Tosu, another team in the J2 League. He made his professional debut on July 10, 2002. This first game was a J2 League match against Ventforet Kofu.
In 2003, he worked hard to earn his spot as the main goalkeeper. He competed with other goalkeepers like Norio Takahashi and Junnosuke Schneider. Because of his efforts, he played in many matches that season. However, in 2004, he hardly played at all.
Time with Kataller Toyama
In 2005, Koji Fujikawa moved to Japan Football League club ALO'S Hokuriku. This team later became known as Kataller Toyama. Here, he became a regular player and played in many matches as the main goalkeeper until 2007.
After 2007, he faced tough competition from another goalkeeper, Yuji Nakagawa. From 2008 onwards, Koji Fujikawa did not play in any matches. He decided to retire from professional football at the end of the 2009 season.
