Nathaniel Kolawole Onadipe (born July 14, 1922 – died December 4, 1988), known to many as Kola Onadipe, was a famous Nigerian writer. He is best remembered for the wonderful books he wrote for children.

Early Life and Education

Kola Onadipe was born in Ijebu-Ode, a town in Ogun State, Nigeria. He grew up in a large family. He was the second son his mother had.

Kola Onadipe loved learning. In 1949, he went to the University of London to study Law. After finishing his studies, he opened a law firm. He worked there with his good friend, Abraham Adesanya.

Family Life

Kola Onadipe had a big family of his own. He was a father to fifteen children. He had seven boys and eight girls. He cared deeply about his children's education. He made sure they all did very well in school.

A Dedicated Educator

Kola Onadipe was also a respected educator. He became the Principal of Olu-Iwa College. This was one of the main high schools in Ijebu-Ode. He led the school during the late 1940s, 1950s, and early 1960s.

He was known for being very strict but fair. He made sure the school had high academic standards. He also made sure students behaved well. He had a famous saying, "You go." This meant if a student skipped school, they would be expelled. It did not matter who their parents were.

Many boys from all over Nigeria attended Olu-Iwa College. Under his leadership, these students grew into successful adults. They went on to study at universities both in Nigeria and abroad. They became important leaders and professionals in many fields.

Later Years and Legacy

Kola Onadipe passed away on December 4, 1988. He was sixty-six years old. He died after suffering a stroke. He was buried at his home in Ogbogbo, Ijebu-Ode, Nigeria.

Kola Onadipe left behind a great legacy. He is remembered as a lawyer, an author, and a dedicated educator. His children's books continue to be enjoyed by young readers.
