Komi Sélom Klassou was a very important politician in Togo, a country in West Africa. He was born on February 10, 1960. From 2015 to 2020, he served as the 12th Prime Minister of Togo.
Before becoming Prime Minister, Mr. Klassou held several other important jobs. He was the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports from 2000 to 2003. Later, he became the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education from 2003 to 2007. He also served as the first vice president of the National Assembly from 2007 to 2015. He is a member of the ruling political party called the Union for the Republic (UNIR).

Early Life and Political Start
Komi Sélom Klassou was born in a town called Notsé in the Haho area of Togo. He began his political career by taking on important roles in the government.
Becoming a Minister
In October 2000, Mr. Klassou was chosen to be the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. He worked in this role for about three years. After that, in July 2003, he became the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education. This job meant he was in charge of schools and learning for young people.
He also helped with the election campaign for Faure Gnassingbé in the 2005 presidential election. When Mr. Gnassingbé was declared the winner, Klassou said it was a big success for the people of Togo.
Serving in the National Assembly
Mr. Klassou worked as the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education for more than four years. In October 2007, he ran for election to the National Assembly, which is like the parliament or law-making body of Togo. He won a seat, meaning he became a representative for his area.
In November 2007, he was elected as the First Vice-President of the National Assembly. This was a very important leadership position in the country's parliament. Because of his new role, he left his job as Minister of Primary and Secondary Education in December 2007.
Klassou was also a member of the Political Bureau of the Rally of the Togolese People (RPT), which was the ruling party at the time. He was re-elected to the National Assembly in July 2013. He was also re-elected as the First Vice-President of the National Assembly in September 2013.
Leading Togo as Prime Minister
In June 2015, Komi Sélom Klassou was chosen to be the Prime Minister of Togo. This happened after President Gnassingbé was re-elected in the April 2015 presidential election.
His Time as Prime Minister
Mr. Klassou officially started his job as Prime Minister on June 10, 2015. He took over from the previous Prime Minister, Kwesi Ahoomey-Zunu. A new government was formed under his leadership, which included 23 ministers. This new government was announced in June 2015.
End of His Term
Komi Sélom Klassou served as Prime Minister for over five years. In September 2020, President Faure Gnassingbé announced that Mr. Klassou had resigned from his position.
