Konstantinos "Kosta" Barbarouses (born 19 February 1990) is a professional footballer from New Zealand. He plays as a winger for the A-League Men club Western Sydney Wanderers. Kosta was born in New Zealand and has Greek family roots.
Kosta's Club Journey
Before becoming a professional player, Kosta played for school and local clubs in New Zealand. These included Wellington Olympic and Miramar Rangers.
Starting with Wellington Phoenix

Kosta first joined Wellington Phoenix when he was just 17 years old. He was one of the youngest players at the club. He played his first professional game on 21 October 2007. He scored his first goal for the Phoenix in January 2009. He played 21 matches and scored two goals during his first time with the team.
Moving to Brisbane Roar
In 2010, Kosta decided to join Brisbane Roar. He wanted to play more often and liked their style of football. He made his debut for Brisbane Roar in August 2010. He scored his first goal for them against his old club, Wellington Phoenix. Kosta had a great season in 2010–11, scoring 12 goals in 33 games. He was even named in the A-League All-Star Team that year.
Playing in Russia and Greece
In 2011, Kosta signed a three-year contract with a Russian team called Alania Vladikavkaz. Brisbane Roar received a transfer fee for him. Kosta scored on his debut for Alania Vladikavkaz, helping them win 1–0.
In 2012, he moved to Greece on loan to play for Panathinaikos. He played 11 games there but did not score any goals.
Success with Melbourne Victory
Kosta returned to Australia in 2013, signing with Melbourne Victory. He had a very successful time with the club. He helped them win the A-League Premiership and Championship in the 2014–15 season. He also won the FFA Cup with them in 2015.
Back to Wellington Phoenix (Again!)
In 2016, Kosta decided to go back to his hometown club, Wellington Phoenix. He signed a three-year contract. However, he left the club in 2017 for personal reasons.
Another Stint at Melbourne Victory
After leaving Wellington, Kosta rejoined Melbourne Victory in June 2017. He continued to be a key player for them. He helped Melbourne Victory win another A-League Championship in 2017–18. He left the club in June 2019 when his contract ended.
Joining Sydney FC
In 2019, Kosta signed with Sydney FC. He helped them win the A-League Premiership and Championship in the 2019–20 season. He played 64 games for Sydney FC, scoring 18 goals.
Third Time with Wellington Phoenix
After recovering from an ankle injury, Kosta returned to Wellington Phoenix for his third time in 2022. He signed a two-year contract. On 20 January 2025, Kosta scored his 100th A-League Men goal. This was a big achievement in his career! He left Wellington Phoenix at the end of the 2024–25 season.
Western Sydney Wanderers
Kosta joined the Western Sydney Wanderers for the 2025–26 season. This is his fifth A-League club.

Kosta has also played for New Zealand's national football teams at different levels.
Playing for New Zealand's Youth Teams
Kosta captained the New Zealand U-17 team at the 2007 U-17 World Cup. He scored five goals during the qualifying games. He also played for the New Zealand U-20 team in 2008. He scored two goals in three matches for them.
Olympic and World Cup Dreams
Kosta played for New Zealand in the qualifying tournament for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He scored four goals in five matches.
He made his senior debut for the New Zealand national team (also known as the All Whites) in November 2008. He hoped to be part of the squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Although he trained with the team, he was not chosen for the final 23-man squad. He was named as one of the reserve players.
Continuing with the All Whites
Kosta continued to play for the All Whites in friendly matches and qualifiers. He scored his first goal for the All Whites in a friendly match against El Salvador in May 2012. He also played for New Zealand at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Kosta was part of New Zealand's team for the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup. He also played in the qualification games for the 2018 World Cup.
