Kosuke Yamamoto (born October 29, 1989) is a Japanese professional footballer. He plays mainly as a defensive midfielder. This means he helps protect his team's goal and also helps start attacks. He currently plays for Matsumoto Yamaga FC.

His Football Journey
Kosuke Yamamoto was born in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. He started playing football at a young age.
Starting with Júbilo Iwata
Yamamoto began his football journey at Seirei Junior Football Club. In 2002, he joined the youth academy of Júbilo Iwata. He worked hard and moved up through the youth teams. By the end of the 2007 season, he earned a spot on the senior team.
He made his first game appearance for Júbilo Iwata on September 3, 2006. This was in a J1 League match. He came into the game late as a substitute. The match was against Oita Trinita at Ōita Bank Dome.
Playing for Albirex Niigata
On June 16, 2014, Yamamoto moved to Albirex Niigata. This was a loan move, meaning he played for them for a set time. At Albirex, he was reunited with his former coach, Masaaki Yanagishita.
He played his first game for Albirex on July 19. He started the match against Urawa Red Diamonds. Yamamoto scored his first goal for Albirex on October 5, 2014. This goal helped his team win 3–0 against Kawasaki Frontale. He scored another important goal on November 22. This winning goal came in a 3–1 victory over FC Tokyo. After a successful first season, he stayed with Albirex Niigata for a second year on loan.
Back to Júbilo
After two years playing on loan with Albirex, Yamamoto returned to Júbilo Iwata. He came back to his original club for the 2016 season.
