Her Artworks
Kristina Buch creates many different types of art. Here are some of her notable works:
- Before the I was folded (2009): This art piece included the first sculpture ever made by a group of chimpanzees. It made people think about whether animals can create art.
- The Lover (2012): This was an art installation and a "life-gesture" that lasted for over 100 days at dOCUMENTA (13).
- later, Goliath. And then started humming (2013): These were paintings made from candy. They looked like famous modern art. People could lick them, so they slowly disappeared from art collections.
- untitled (holes) (2014): This was a special one-time concert she created with Iko Birk.
- Some at times cast light (2015): Kristina Buch named a public square in Bochum, Germany, after a made-up woman, Grete-Penelope Mars. A bronze statue of this woman was placed there. Also, every year in June or July, fireflies released in the nearby park become part of the artwork.
- Such prophecies we write on banana skins. (triangulation of criminal grace) (2015): This was a video and sound artwork shown at the 14th Istanbul Biennial. It showed big explosions of an art building and Mount Everest. This work explores how we often need to rethink our ideas and categories. Kristina Buch was the only German artist at this Biennial.
- It’s normal that reality happens. (these games will fall apart) (2016): This artwork was an abstract game field made of white marble lines. It was laid into the grass of a public park in Merano. It makes people think about rules and boundaries.
- EXECUTION SEMANTICS for a necessary criminal (2016): This was a solo exhibition at Kunsthalle Bremerhaven.
- “One of the things that baffles me about you is that you remain unmurdered.” (2012–2016)
- OH, BOY! (conjugation of a stick) (2017)
- Playing above the snake line (2018)
