Starting in Politics
In 2010, Kristina Winberg became involved in politics. She ran as a candidate for the Riksdag, which is the Swedish Parliament. In the same year, she became a member of the city council in Jönköping Municipality. This meant she helped make decisions for the city of Jönköping.
Becoming a Member of the European Parliament
On January 27, 2014, Kristina Winberg was chosen as her party's main candidate for the European Parliament. The European Parliament is a very important part of the European Union. It helps make laws for all the countries in the EU.

Important Events as an MEP
In December 2016, Kristina Winberg was scheduled to attend a meeting. This meeting was with the Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister, Tzipi Hotovely. However, she was not allowed to attend the meeting. This happened because of concerns about the political views of the Sweden Democrats party. As a result, another important person, Becky Norton Dunlop, canceled the meeting in protest.
Leaving the Party
A few days before the European Parliament elections in 2019, Kristina Winberg faced a challenge. She was removed from her party's list of candidates. Soon after this, she had to leave the Sweden Democrats party completely. Her term as an MEP ended on July 2, 2019.
