Early Life and Education
Krutibas Nayak was born in 1955 in a village called Ektala, located in Odisha, India. He spent his younger years in the southern part of Odisha. He studied literature and earned his degree from Berhampur University. In 1992, he earned a special degree called a Doctorate. His research was about how Oriya children's stories developed and grew over time.
Career as a Writer and Editor
Dr. Nayak has written over 150 books! He is very good at writing for young readers. In the 1980s, he worked as an editor for children's magazines written in Odia. Some of these magazines were called Shishu Nayan, Ame Shishu, and Shishu Raija. The magazine Shishu Raija was published from 1976 to 1990 in Jeypore, Odisha.
Dr. Nayak also worked at All India Radio in Jeypore, Odisha. He joined as an Assistant Director in December 2012. He was promoted to Station Director in February 2014 and retired in March 2015.
Recognized Works and Awards
Dr. Nayak has received many important awards for his writing. These awards show how much his work is appreciated across India and in his home state.
- He received a National Award for his Hindi novel Shubalakshmi in 2002. This award is special because it's for a Hindi writer from an area where Hindi is not the main language.
- He won a National Award for Children's literature in 1999 for his children's poem book Phoola Sabu Phutile.
- He also won a National Award for Children's literature in 1992 for his children's novel Banabhoji.
