The Start of Kumbia Kings
The band was created by A.B. Quintanilla III in 1999. He is the brother of the famous singer Selena. A.B. Quintanilla III brought together talented musicians to form a new group. Their goal was to create music that blended different sounds.
Their Unique Music Style
Kumbia Kings were special because they mixed many types of music. Their main style was Cumbia, which is a dance music from Latin America. But they also added sounds from reggae, Latin pop, hip hop, and R&B. This mix made their music fresh and exciting for many listeners.

Some members of Kumbia Kings also went on to have successful solo careers. For example, Frankie J became a well-known R&B singer. Chris Pérez, who was married to Selena, also played with Kumbia Kings and Kumbia All Starz. He later started his own band with Joe Ojeda.
