Kusapín is a special district in Panama. It is part of the Ngöbe Buglé region, which is home to the Ngöbe Buglé indigenous people. The main town and capital of this district is also called Kusapín.
This district covers an area of about 1,693.2 square kilometers. According to the 2010 census, about 33,121 people live in Kusapín. Most of the people living here are from the Ngöbe Buglé ethnic group.
The Story of Kusapín
Kusapín became its own district in March 1997. This happened because of a special rule called Law 10. Kusapín is part of the Ñokribu region within Ngöbe Buglé, along with another district called Kankintú.
How to Visit Kusapín
Kusapín is located on the coast of the Bocas del Toro province. This means you need to travel by boat to reach it.
Boats usually leave early in the morning, around 6:00 AM. They depart from the port of Chiriqui Grande. The boat ride takes about two to three hours, arriving between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. The exact travel time can change depending on the weather. Boats then leave the port for Kusapín around 11:00 AM.
