Kyōwa facts for kids
Kyōwa (享和) was a special name for a period in Japan's history. These period names are called nengō (年号). The Kyōwa era came after the Kansei era and before the Bunka era.
This time period lasted for about three years. It started in February 1801 and ended in February 1804. During the Kyōwa era, the emperor of Japan was Emperor Kōkaku (光格天皇).

Earthquakes in 1802
- December 9, 1802 (This was the 15th day of the 11th month in the old Japanese calendar): A strong earthquake shook the northwest part of Honshū island and an area called Sado Province. This earthquake was quite powerful, measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale.
- December 28, 1802 (This was the 4th day of the 12th month in the old Japanese calendar): Another earthquake happened on Sado Island.
