Kyl21
Kyl21 popsicles

Kyl21 was a German brand that created unique ice pops. These ice pops were special because they had cool geometric shapes and were made for people who eat a vegan diet. Some flavors were also made for adults.

How Kyl21 Ice Pops Were Made

Kyl21 was started in 2014 in Berlin by a product designer named David Marx. His company, Molekyleis Produktionsgesellschaft mbH, focused on making food using science.

David Marx developed a special way to make ice pops. He used a method called flash-freezing with liquid nitrogen. This process freezes the ice pops very quickly at extremely cold temperatures, around -200 degrees Celsius (-328 degrees Fahrenheit). This super-fast freezing helped the ice pops keep their interesting geometric shapes.

The idea for these ice pops came from the Science Kitchen. This was a food lab in Berlin that explored molecular gastronomy. They worked on creating new food products that were good for the planet and suitable for vegans. Kyl21 ice pops were also made in other parts of the world, like Los Angeles and China, under different brand names.

The name "Kyl21" is a mix of words. "Kyl" comes from "molekyl," which is the Norwegian word for molecule. The "21" part referred to the age of the people the ice pops were made for, especially because some flavors were only for adults. In German, "Kyl" sounds like "kühl," which means "cool."

What Happened to Kyl21

Kyl21 was able to raise a lot of money, about €940,650 (which is around US $1.2 million), from many investors through a platform called Companisto. However, even with this large amount of money, the company did not open any stores or sell its products in Germany. By 2021, the company's website was no longer online.
