His Early Life and Learning
Kyle O'Sullivan was born in Dublin, Ireland. He went to two universities in Dublin. These were Trinity College Dublin and University College Dublin.
Kyle's Career as a Diplomat
Kyle O'Sullivan joined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1993. This is the part of the government that handles Ireland's relationships with other countries. Before that, he worked for some years in Hong Kong.
Before becoming an ambassador, he was the Consular Director. This role meant he helped Irish citizens who were abroad. He also worked as a Director for EU Policy. This job involved helping the Taoiseach (Ireland's Prime Minister) with European Union matters. He has also worked in other roles both in Ireland and in other countries.
Ambassador to Nigeria
Kyle O'Sullivan served as Ireland's ambassador to Nigeria. He held this important role from 2007 to 2010.
Ambassador to Indonesia
In 2014, Kyle O'Sullivan became Ireland's first ambassador to Indonesia. He worked there until 2018. Olivia Leslie took over from him after that. While he was ambassador, an earthquake happened in 2018. All the Irish people in the area, more than 50 of them, were found safe.
Ambassador to Israel
In 2019, O'Sullivan became Ireland's ambassador to Israel. He took over from Alison Kelly. He officially started his role on August 7, 2019. He presented his credentials to Israel's president, Reuven Rivlin. Sonya McGuinness became the new ambassador in November 2022.
