Kédougou Region facts for kids
Kédougou is a special area, or region, located in the southeast part of Senegal. Think of it like a state or a large county. The main city and capital of this region is also called Kédougou. This region was officially created in the year 2008.
In 2013, a count showed that about 152,134 people lived in the Kédougou Region. The region covers a large area of about 16,800 km2 (6,500 sq mi). This makes it a significant part of Senegal.
Kédougou's Smaller Areas
The Kédougou Region is divided into smaller parts called départements. These are like smaller administrative districts within the region. They help manage different local areas.
There are three main départements in the Kédougou Region:
- Kédougou Département
- Salémata Département
- Saraya Département
