Kōji (弘治) was a Japanese era name (年号,, nengō,, lit. "year name") after Tenbun and before Eiroku. This period started in October 1555 and ended in February 1558. During this time, the emperors were Go-Nara-tennō (後奈良天皇) and Ōgimachi-tennō (正親町天皇).

Events of the Kōji era

Miyajima Island
The only battle fought on the island of Miyajima was won by forces of the Mōri clan in the 1st year of Kōji
  • 1555 (Kōji 1, 11th month): Mōri Motonari won the Battle of Itsukushima (厳島合戦, Itsukushima Kassen), also known as the "Battle of Miyajima"
  • 1555 (Kōji 1): Battle of Kawanakajima.
  • 1556 (Kōji 2): The Ōmori silver mine controlled by the Mori clan.
  • 27 September 1557 (Kōji 3, 5th day of the 9th month): Emperor Go-Nara died at age 62.
