Kʼinich Ahkal Moʼ Nahb III was born to a noble family in Palenque. His father was Tiwol Chan Mat, and his mother was Lady Kinuw. He was married to Lady Men Nik. After his rule, his son, Kʼinich Kʼukʼ Bahlam II, became the next ajaw.
Early Life and Family Connections
Kʼinich Ahkal Moʼ Nahb III was born during the time his grandfather, Kʼinich Janaab Pakal I, was ruling Palenque. His grandfather was a very famous ruler, often called "Pakal the Great." Pakal the Great helped Palenque become strong again after attacks from enemies. He also started many building projects, like the famous Temple of the Inscriptions.
