The L’Hospitalet Museum is a special place in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, a city near Barcelona. It's like a treasure chest that helps everyone learn about and protect the history and art of L'Hospitalet. The museum first opened its doors in 1972 inside a beautiful old building called Casa Espanya, which was built way back in the 1500s! It's also part of a bigger group of museums in the Barcelona area.

The L'Hospitalet Museum actually has three different locations, each focusing on something unique:

  • Casa Espanya: This is where you can explore the history of the city.
  • L’Harmonia: This part is all about art.
  • Can Riera: Here, you can discover stories and memories from the community.

What You Can See at the Museum

The museum has many different kinds of collections.

Modern Art Collection

One part of the museum has a collection of contemporary art. This means art made by artists from the second half of the 1900s. You might see works by famous artists like Dalí, Miró, Tàpies, and Manolo Hugué. These artworks are shown in special exhibitions that change from time to time.

Old Religious Art

The museum also has a collection of old religious artworks called altarpieces. These pieces are from the 1500s and 1600s and came from the old Santa Eulàlia de Mèrida church. Some important ones include the altarpiece of Saint Roch and another called the altarpiece of the souls. These are thought to be made by artists named Jaume Huguet I and Jaume Huguet II.
