What is the LA Law Library?

The LA Law Library is a special kind of library. It's not just for lawyers, but for anyone who needs to learn about laws. It has a huge collection of books, documents, and other materials that explain legal rules and how they work. This library helps people understand their rights and responsibilities.

It holds nearly one million books, which makes it a massive resource for legal studies. People use it for research, to find information about court cases, or to learn about different laws.

A Look at Its History

The LA Law Library was started a long time ago, in 1891. It was created by local lawyers who wanted a place to find legal books and information.

For its first 60 years, the library was located inside the courthouse on Hill Street. This was its home for a long time. Then, they decided to build a brand new, bigger building just for the library. Construction on the current building began in 1951 and was finished in 1953.

Later, even more space was needed! So, an addition was built onto the library between 1969 and 1970 to make it even larger and hold more books and resources.
