LaValle, Missouri facts for kids
LaValle (sometimes spelled La Valle) is a small, unincorporated community located in Stoddard County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live together, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town would.
The Story of LaValle
Imagine a time when people didn't have cell phones or email! They relied on post offices to send and receive letters. LaValle had its very own post office, which opened in 1903. This post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1953. The name LaValle comes from an important person in the area's early days, a settler named John LaValle.
