How it Started
La Belle Assiette was created in 2012 in Paris, France. The founders, Stephen Leguillon and Giorgio Riccò, met while studying at ESCP Europe. They saw how popular online services like Airbnb and Uber were. They thought, "Why not do something similar for restaurants and chefs?"
So, they came up with the idea for La Belle Assiette. It lets people easily find and book a chef. The chef then comes to your house with all the food and tools needed. They cook a delicious meal, and after you eat, they even clean up the kitchen!
At first, a private investor helped them for a year. Then, in 2012, they got support from a French investment bank called Bpifrance. In October 2014, La Belle Assiette received 1.3 million euros from investors in the US and Europe. This money helped them open an office in London. It also allowed them to grow and offer their service in more European countries.
