La Piedra Escrita means 'the written stone' in Spanish. It is a very special place in central Puerto Rico. Here, you can see ancient rock art carved into a huge granite boulder. This boulder sits right in the Saliente River in Coabey, Jayuya.
These unique rock carvings are called petroglyphs. Many people believe they were made by the Taino people. The Taino were the native people who lived in Puerto Rico long ago. La Piedra Escrita has become very famous. Its designs are often seen in popular art. It is also a popular spot for tourists to visit.
