Historically, La Torre d'en Doménec was connected to other nearby towns. For a long time, it depended on Les Coves de Vinromà. Later, starting in the year 1319, it came under the protection of the Knights of Montesa. These were a powerful military order. Until the 1800s, the town's church matters were handled by the parish in the neighboring town of Vilanova d'Alcolea.
