Lachlan Og MacLean, 1st Laird of Torloisk was an important Scottish leader. He was the second son of a powerful chief named Sir Lachlan Mor Maclean. Lachlan Og was also the very first person to hold the title of Laird of Torloisk.
Lachlan Og MacLean's Life and Influence
Lachlan Og was the second son of Sir Lachlan Mor Maclean. His father gave him control over lands called Lehire-Torloisk. These lands had been taken from the son of Ailean nan Sop. Later, a special document from the king officially confirmed Lachlan Og's ownership.
He was part of the Battle of Gruinnart, a significant fight in his time. During this battle, he was badly hurt. Lachlan Og was also a witness to an important document given by his father. He signed it using old Irish writing, showing his heritage. He was a very influential man and was even asked to appear before the privy council, which was a group of important advisors to the king.
Family and Successors
Lachlan Og MacLean was married three times. His first wife was Marian, who was the daughter of Sir Duncan Campbell of Achnabreck. With Marian, he had a son:
- Hector MacLean, 2nd Laird of Torloisk, who later became the next Laird of Torloisk.
His second marriage was to Margaret, the daughter of Captain Stewart of Dumbarton. They did not have any children together.
Lachlan Og's third wife was also named Marian. She was the daughter of Donald MacDonald of Clanranald. With her, he had several children, including:

- Lachlan Catanach Maclean, who was killed in a battle at Inverkeithing.

Lachlan Og lived for a very long time. After his long life, his eldest son, Hector MacLean, 2nd Laird of Torloisk, took over as the next Laird of Torloisk.
