Lady Frances Brudenell (born before 1677 – died February 23, 1736) was an important Irish noblewoman. She held the title of Countess of Newburgh. Lady Frances was a well-known figure in her time. She was even featured in poems and stories.

Early Life and Family

Lady Frances Brudenell was the daughter of Francis Brudenell, Lord Brudenell. Her mother was Lady Frances Savile. She grew up in a noble family.

Marriages and Titles

Lady Frances married two times during her life. Her first marriage was to Charles Livingston, 2nd Earl of Newburgh. This marriage took place between 1692 and 1694. When she married him, she became the Countess of Newburgh.

After his death, she married again. Her second husband was Richard Bellew, 3rd Baron Bellew of Duleek. This marriage lasted from 1695 to 1715. Through this marriage, she became the Baroness Bellew of Duleek.

It was also said that she might have had another marriage. This was to Sir Thomas Smyth. However, this marriage was not officially recognized.

Public Life and Writings

Lady Frances was a notable person in society. She was even the inspiration for a series of love poems. These poems were published by George Granville, 1st Baron Lansdowne starting in 1712. In these poems, she was called "Myra."

She was also involved in a legal case about money. An Oxford scholar named William King claimed she owed him money. He was the nephew of Sir Thomas Smyth. Lady Frances won the case. After losing, William King wrote a story about her in 1732. It was called "The Toast."

Children and Later Life

Lady Frances had several children. Her daughter was Charlotte Maria Livingston. Charlotte was born in 1694 and lived until 1755. Lady Frances also had a son, John Bellew. He became the 4th Baron Bellew of Duleek. John was born in 1702 and passed away in 1770.

Lady Frances Brudenell died on February 23, 1736. She passed away in Dublin, Ireland. She was buried in St. Audoen's Church in Dublin.
